Hystory Of Typography

Typography is a science in choosing and arranging the letters by setting its spread in the available spaces, to create a certain impression, so it can help the reader to get comfortable reading as much as possible.

Also known art of typography, ie work or designs that use the font settings as the main element. In the art of typography, the notion of letters as a symbol of the sound can be ignored.

 

History of Typography

Historical development starting from the use of typography pictograph. The form of this language among others used by the Vikings of Norway and Sioux Indians. In Egypt developing Hieratia typeface, which is known by the name of hieroglyphics in 1300 BC century. The form of this typography is the root of the form Demotia, which were written using a special pen.

Typographic form is finally growing up in Crete, then spread to Greece and eventually spread throughout Europe.

The peak development of typography, occurred at about the 8th century BC in Rome as the Romans began to establish his authority. Because the Romans did not have its own writing system, they learn the Etruscan writing system which is a native of Italy and perfected so that formed Roman letters.

Currently typography have evolved from the phase of creation with his hands up to having computerized. Phase computerization makes use of typography becomes easier and faster in time with the kind of choice of hundreds of letters.

Clarity of form letters (legibility) are subject to recognize a level of convenience without the hassle of writing. This can be determined by:

    1. The complexity of the design of letters, such as the use siripan, contrast scratches, and so forth.
    2. Use of color
    3. The frequency of the observer to see the letters in everyday life

Readability is the level of comfort in an arrangement of letters when read, which is influenced by:

    1. Typeface
    2. Size
    3. Arrangements, including grooves, spacing, kerning, alignment, etc.
    4. Color contrast against the background
